POSITION OVERVIEW
ISO Workforce Alliance is seeking a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to provide school-based mental and behavioral health services to K–12 students.
The LMFT will work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, school psychologists, counselors, special education teams, administrators, and other related-service professionals to address social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs that may affect a student's educational success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide individual and group counseling and therapeutic services to students.
• Conduct mental health assessments and identify students' social-emotional and behavioral needs within the scope of the position.
• Develop appropriate treatment goals and intervention plans.
• Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, and appropriate referrals when necessary.
• Support students experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, family concerns, social difficulties, and other mental health needs.
• Collaborate with parents and caregivers to support student progress.
• Consult with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, counselors, and other school personnel.
• Participate in IEP meetings, Student Study Team (SST) meetings, 504 meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and other student-support meetings as assigned and appropriate to the role.
• Provide services consistent with students' IEPs or other educational plans when assigned.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress notes, service records, and other required school or clinical documentation.
• Assist school teams with behavioral and social-emotional interventions.
• Provide mental health education and consultation to school staff and families when appropriate.
• Follow all district policies, mandated-reporting requirements, confidentiality requirements, and applicable California professional standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field meeting California licensure requirements.
• Current and active California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
• Experience providing counseling or behavioral health services to children and/or adolescents.
• Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health, family systems, trauma-informed practices, and evidence-based interventions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary school environment.
• Strong written documentation and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to satisfy California school district background, fingerprinting, TB clearance, and other applicable onboarding requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous experience working in a California K–12 school setting.
• Experience supporting students receiving special education services.
• Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, IEP processes, MTSS, PBIS, and school-based mental health programs.
• Experience participating in multidisciplinary assessments and student-support teams.
• Experience with crisis intervention and suicide-risk assessment protocols.
• Bilingual skills are highly desirable.
CALIFORNIA SCHOOL COMPLIANCE
Candidates must hold the professional license and any additional credential, authorization, registration, or qualification required for the specific services assigned by the contracting school district and applicable California requirements.
