About the Opportunity

ISO Workforce Alliance is partnering with a respected critical access hospital in New Mexico to identify a skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist for a newly created position within the facility.

This is more than a traditional OT role, this is a unique opportunity to build and establish the Occupational Therapy program from the ground up. The selected clinician will play a key role in shaping workflows, treatment approaches, and overall program structure, with the support of hospital leadership.

Ideal for an OT who is looking to step into a more autonomous, impactful role while still working within a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, treat, and support patients in developing or regaining the skills necessary for daily living and independence. In addition, this role will contribute to the development and implementation of the hospital’s OT program, helping to establish best practices and clinical processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations (physical, cognitive, and functional)
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Support patients with ADLs, mobility training, and adaptive techniques
  • Recommend and train patients on assistive devices and equipment
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care strategies
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within EMR systems
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and therapy teams
  • Assist in building and structuring the Occupational Therapy program
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education

Qualifications

Education & Licensure (Required):

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (ACOTE-accredited program)
  • Successful completion of NBCOT exam (OTR credential)
  • Active or eligible for New Mexico OT license
  • Current BLS/CPR certification

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience preferred (acute care strongly preferred)
  • Experience with ADLs, mobility training, and rehabilitation techniques
  • Familiarity with hospital equipment (lifts, splints, adaptive devices)
  • Strong documentation and EMR proficiency
  • Previous experience helping build or expand therapy programs is a strong plus
