Key Responsibilities

• First assist in open-heart and cardiac surgery procedures
• Support CABG, valve repair/replacement, TAVR support, and aortic cases
• Perform chest exposure and closure
• Assist with sternotomy closure
• Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) strongly preferred
• Provide scrub and perioperative support in the CVOR
• Collaborate with surgeons, perfusion, anesthesia, and CVOR teams
• Maintain strict AORN, CNOR, and hospital OR standards
• Support rapid turnovers in a busy cardiac surgery service line

Cardiac RNFA assignments in Rochester frequently prioritize CABG support, wound closure, vein harvesting, and complex cardiac OR workflows, making prior CVOR depth essential. 

Requirements

• Active New York RN license
• RNFA certification
• CNOR required
• Minimum 3 years CVOR / open-heart OR experience
• Strong cardiac case background:

  • thoracic
  • aortic
  • minimally invasive heart procedures
• EVH experience preferred
• BLS + ACLS
• Prior hospital-based Cardiac OR travel experience highly preferred
