
Position Title: Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CSTFA)

Bill Rate: $50–$60 per hour
Position Overview:
ISO Workforce Alliance is currently seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CSTFA) to support surgical teams at a healthcare facility in Illinois. The ideal candidate will have strong operating room experience and the ability to provide skilled assistance to surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures. This role requires a highly motivated professional committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient care, surgical precision, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Function as a Surgical First Assistant during surgical procedures
Assist the surgeon by exposing the surgical site, controlling bleeding, suturing, and handling tissue as directed
Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies
Support the operating room team in maintaining sterile technique and infection control standards
Assist with preoperative preparation and intraoperative procedures to ensure smooth surgical workflow
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to support optimal patient outcomes
Maintain accurate documentation and support surgical team communication throughout procedures
Required Qualifications:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CSTFA)
Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience
Current BLS certification
Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures
Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced surgical environments
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience:
Experience assisting in General Surgery
Experience assisting in Orthopedic Surgery
Experience assisting in Endoscopic procedures
Experience working in high-volume surgical centers
