About the Role
ISO Workforce Alliance is partnering with a large, diverse, and student-centered public school system in Elgin, Illinois to place a Special Education Teacher specializing in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) for the current or upcoming school year.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled educator who is passionate about equitable access to education for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and who values collaboration, compliance, and innovative instructional practices.
You will serve as a critical member of the Student Services team, ensuring that students with hearing-related disabilities receive individualized instruction, appropriate accommodations, and legally compliant special education services in alignment with IDEA and Illinois state regulations.
As an ISO-supported teacher, you will receive dedicated recruiter support, onboarding assistance, and ongoing advocacy throughout your assignment.
What You’ll Do
As a Special Education DHH Teacher, you will:
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Provide specialized instruction tailored to students’ communication modes (e.g., oral, sign, or total communication)
Collaborate with audiologists, interpreters, speech-language pathologists, general education teachers, and families
Support students’ academic progress, communication access, and social-emotional development
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
Collect and analyze student data to inform instructional decisions
Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and Illinois special education requirements
Maintain accurate, timely, and audit-ready documentation
Promote inclusive practices and accessibility across learning environments
Illinois Requirements
Candidates must hold:
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with:
Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement and/or
Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement or approval (as applicable)
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s preferred)
Demonstrated knowledge of:
IDEA and Illinois special education regulations
IEP development and progress monitoring
Instructional strategies for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Preferred Experience:
Experience working with DHH students in K–12 or secondary settings
Familiarity with assistive listening technology and classroom accommodations
Experience collaborating with educational interpreters and related service providers
Background in inclusive or co-taught instructional models
