Instructional Assistant/ Paraprofessional

Instructional Assistant — School-Based

Pay: $25–$35 per hour (depending on experience)

Schedule: Full-Time or Part-Time
Setting: Elementary, Middle, or High School Classrooms
Reports To: Classroom Teacher and/or Site Administrator

Position Overview

ISO Workforce Alliance is seeking a dedicated and reliable Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students in maintaining a positive, organized, and engaging learning environment. The Instructional Assistant provides academic and behavioral support to students individually, in small groups, or within whole-class settings, and assists teachers with classroom preparation and daily activities.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with students, supporting educators, and contributing to a safe and supportive school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support classroom instruction under the direction of the teacher.

  • Assist students with assignments, organization, and understanding directions or concepts.

  • Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources.

  • Support positive student behavior and help maintain an orderly learning environment.

  • Monitor student engagement and assist in keeping students on task.

  • Read with or to students and support literacy activities.

  • Perform basic clerical tasks such as record keeping, filing, copying, and material preparation.

  • Communicate student progress and observations with teaching staff.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student information.

  • Assist during school activities, transitions, and emergency procedures as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree (AA) or higher OR

  • 72 quarter college credits OR

  • Passing score on ParaPro or Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

  • Basic computer and email skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

  • Ability to support diverse learners and work with a diverse school community.

  • Basic math and literacy skills.

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to approximately 10 lbs. throughout the day.

  • Work involves frequent movement around the classroom and school campus.
