Behavior Specialist / BCBA — School-Based

Pay: $80–$100 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time
Setting: District-Based Student Support Services
Reports To: Director of Psychological Services

Position Overview

ISO Workforce Alliance is seeking an experienced Behavior Specialist / Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of behavior management programs for students with exceptional needs. This role provides district-wide consultation, training, and direct support to school teams, administrators, service providers, and families to ensure behavioral programs are effective, compliant, and aligned with best practices.

The Behavior Specialist plays a critical leadership role in supporting student success through data-driven behavioral interventions, staff training, and collaborative problem-solving across school sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and behavior programs for identified students.

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Functional Analyses, and other behavioral assessments as needed.

  • Provide training, modeling, and ongoing supervision to instructional aides, paraprofessionals, and support staff.

  • Support teachers and administrators with classroom management strategies and behavior supports.

  • Participate in and support IEP development, meetings, and compliance timelines.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret behavioral data to guide decision-making and program adjustments.

  • Provide professional development and training to staff, administrators, and families.

  • Collaborate with school psychologists, NPAs, agencies, and district leadership to support student needs.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and compliance records.

  • Respond to behavioral crises and support teams in prioritizing behavior management needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.

  • Active Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience supervising and/or teaching students with exceptional needs in a school or county office setting.

  • Current Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or equivalent certification.

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of behavior management strategies and applied behavior analysis.

  • Understanding of State and Federal education law and special education compliance.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders including families, educators, and agencies.

  • Strong training, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple timelines, prioritize needs, and respond effectively during crises.

  • Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills.

  • Proficiency with data collection systems and educational software tools.

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Work performed in school and office environments with frequent movement between sites.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout the day.

  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to approximately 20 lbs.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel between school locations.
